With the Digital Hub Initiative, the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWi) wants to highlight Germany's strengths as a leading industrial nation with existing, high-quality know-how in the age of digital transformation, thus making Germany an alternative for founders, investors and skilled workers from all over the world. Berlin participates in the initiative of the BMWi as the "Internet of Things (IoT) & FinTech" ecosystem (hub). The Berlin IoT & FinTech Hub is set up as a private-public partnership. The city of Berlin supports the IoT & FinTech Hub and its activities and sees it as an important innovation partner in the Berlin ecosystem. Through Berlin Partners for business and technology who coordinates the IoT & FinTech Hub in Berlin, the hub is embedded into a broad network of industry and science. The partner for the booming fintech sector is the company builder finleap. Berlin’s IoT Hub embodies a shared vision of three distinct partners: NBT’s mission to be the IoT Company Builder of Europe, Factory’s goal to transform the Görlitzer Park location into a home for IoT, and Fraunhofer’s foray into the future of Germany’s industrial technologies with IoT.
